Currently, Space Missions are spacecraft exploring Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Saturn, as well as a comet and an Asteroids and Life. The Voyager spacecraft are moving at high speed out of our solar system while New Horizons speeds toward a 2015 encounter with Pluto. Closer to home, we have probes in lunar orbit, a handful of solar physics missions, space telescopes, and a small army of Earth-observing satellites. In Earth orbit, the International Space Station continues to soar around the planet with a continually staffed crew of astronauts and cosmonauts.

Remote sensing is a sub-field of geography. A geographic information system (GIS) is a system which was invent to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of spatial or geographical data.

Track 3: Space exploration:

Space exploration is one of the main ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial structures in outer space which means, continuously evolving and growing space technology. The exploration of Mars has been an important part of the space exploration programs of the Soviet Union (later Russia), the United States, Europe, Japan and India. Dozens of robotic spacecraft, including orbiters, landers, and rovers, have been launched toward Mars since the 1960s. These missions were aimed at gathering data about current conditions and answering questions about the history of Mars.

Track 4: Earthquake Engineering:

Earthquakes define a structure's ability to sustain and its main functions, such as its safety and serviceability, at and after a particular earthquake exposure. A structure is normally considered safe if it does not endanger the lives and well-being of those in or around it by partially or completely collapsing. A structure may be considered serviceable if it is able to fulfill its operational functions for which it was designed. Basic concepts of the earthquake engineering, implemented in the major building codes, assume that a building should survive a rare, very severe earthquake by sustaining significant damage but without globally collapsing. On the other hand, it should remain operational for more frequent, but less severe seismic events.

Track 6: Climate change & Weather forecasting

Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns when that change lasts for an extended period of time (i.e., decades to millions of years). Climate change is caused by factors such as biotic processes, variations in solar radiation received by Earth, plate tectonics, and volcanic eruptions. Weather and forecasting is the application of science and technology to predict the state of the atmosphere for a given location. Weather forecasts are made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the atmosphere at a given place and using scientific understanding of atmospheric processes to project how the atmosphere will change.

Communications satellite is an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies through the use of a transponder, radio telecommunications signals, between a source and a receiver. Satellites communication is used for television, telephone, radio, internet, and military applications. There are over 2,000 communications satellites in Earth’s orbit, used by both private and government organizations.

Track 9: Asteroid Impact Mission (AIM)

The Asteroid Impact Mission is a small ESA mission of opportunity to explore and demonstrate technologies for future missions while performing scientific investigations on a binary asteroid and addressing Planetary Science. Asteroids and comets are very interesting objects, being the remnants of the earliest years of the formation of our Solar System, more than four billion years ago. The word Asteroids and Life means "star-like" and these objects appear in the sky as bright, point-like stars. But, unlike stars, asteroids are rocks orbiting our Solar System: they don’t emit light on their own and are visible only because they reflect sunlight.

Track 10: Satellite Radiance

Satellite Radience Measure up welling radiation at top of atmosphere. Measure New IR instruments and deep layers generally implies large horizontal scale. Weather satellites do not measure temperature directly but measure radiances in various wavelength bands. Since 1978 Microwave sounding units (MSUs) on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration polar orbiting satellites have measured the intensity of upwelling microwave radiation from atmospheric oxygen, which is proportional to the temperature of broad vertical layers of the atmosphere.

Track 11: Space Weather

Space weather is a section of space physics and aeronomy concerned with the time varying conditions within the Solar System, as well as the solar wind, emphasizing the space surrounding the Earth, including conditions in the magnetosphere, ionosphere and thermosphere. Space weather is clear from the terrestrial weather of the Earth's atmosphere (troposphere and stratosphere).

Track 12: Materials Science in Space

The multidisciplinary field of materials science, also commonly known as materials science and engineering, involves the exploration and design of new materials, with an emphasis on solids. The intellectual origins of materials science stem from the insight, when researchers began to use analytical thinking from chemistry, physics, and engineering to understand ancient, phenomenological investigation in metallurgy and mineralogy. Important elements of modern materials science are a product of the space race: the understanding and engineering of the metallic alloys, and silica and carbon materials, used in the construction of space vehicles allow the exploration of space.

Market Growth of Satellite Research in the last and upcoming Ten years

Growth by next 5-10 years in Spain:

There is “enormous growth” in store for the small-satellite market, according to Carolyn Belle, an analyst for Northern Sky Research, a Wilmington, Del., and satellite industry market research firm. Belle is the author of a recently released record, “Nano and Microsatellite Markets,” that examines satellites weighing from 1 to 50 kg. The study targeted on the lighter versions of so-called microsatellites [weighing from 10 to 100 kg], as well as Nano satellites (weighing from 1 to 10 kg). While there were fewer than 200 launches of 1- to 50-kg satellites in the last 5 years, Belle believes there will be about 2,000 launches of these devices over the next 10 years.

Over the next 10 years, however, Belle sees most of the improvement in the small-satellite market coming from Earth observation. “Because these satellites are inexpensive to frame, you can put constellations of them in orbit to cover the same area on Earth more frequently than a larger satellite.
